The 2017 (16th) China International Chemical Industry Fair Opened Today
Hosted by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, and organized by CCPIT Chemical Sub-Council and chemical Industry information service veteran China National Chemical Information Center, the 2017 (16th) China International Chemical Industry Fair is opened today in Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. With the theme of “Innovation Creates the Future”, the three-day event focuses on basic chemicals, fine and specialty chemicals, chemical engineering and processing, application of internet of things in chemical industries etc. More than 25 year’s history, ICIF China enjoys high reputation in chemical industries in China and abroad.
High profile guests making appearances at the opening and the VIP tour including Mr. LI Yongwu, former President of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, Mr. ZHAO Jungui, the Vice President of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, Mr. LIU Jigang, the President of CCPIT Chemical Sub-Council, Mr. JIE Yubin, the Vice President of China National Chemical Information Center, Mr. Daniel YOO, Chief Representative of VDMA Shanghai Representative Office together with high level leaders from large-scale petrochemical enterprises and industrial associations grace the event with their presence where they gather to discuss sustainable development of chemical industries during the event.
Occupying 20,000 square meters space, ICIF China 2017 attracted more than 500 petroleum and chemical companies to attend, such as China National Petroleum Corporation, Sinopec Group, Sinochem Group, Shenhua Group Corporation Ltd., Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum (Group) Co. Ltd., Shanghai Huayi Group, Tianjin Bohai Chemical Industry Group Corporation, Juhua Group, Qingdao Haiwan Group, Yuntianhua Group and Luxi Group etc. The overseas participation is also a highlight of this year’s edition: Association of International Chemical Manufacturers represents nearly 70 major multinational companies in the chemical industry of China, whose members’ business covers manufacture, transportation, distribution and disposal of chemicals, e.g. Converstro, Evonik, Lanxess, Linde, Wacker etc.

The 500 exhibitors of the trade fair reported that the contacts were excellent and plenty of orders were placed. They expressly praised the high decision-making competence of the discussion partners," commented Mr. JIE Yubin, Vice President of China National Chemical Information Center, one of the organizers of ICIF China. Mr. Daniel Yoo, Chief Representative of Verhand Deutschen Marchinenand Anlagenban (VDMA) - Shanghai Office attended the VIP Tour and mentioned: “The show looks very well organized and the main and important players of the industry are present! The numbers of visitor on the first day were high!”
On the first day of the event, about trade visitors participated the ICIF China. The event also got great attention from the press and public media. Journalists from China News Service, Xinhua Net, China Economic Net, China Chemical Industry News, ChemInfo Net, China Chemical Industry Net, LookChem Net, Chemindustry.com and Echemi.com registered for reporting the exhibitors and onsite activities of ICIF China this year. As the leading platform for the international trade, ICIF China was takes as the “Canton Fair” for chemical industries. More than 10 overseas trade visitor groups from USA, Europe, Russia, Japan, Korea, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Taiwan registered for onsite business matchmaking.
Mr. Hamza Ahmed Numberdar, the trade visitor who first time attended ICIF China gave his special appreciation to the organizer: “ICIF China helps buyers from worldwide to meet in a single platform, and this makes pak-china business more strong, I hope this show could be benefited a lot of international businesses now and in the future".
Almost 40% of the visitors were experts from the production and manufacturing sectors of the chemical industries. The interest from the development and construction, marketing and buying sections was very strong as usual. According to the exhibitors the quality of the visitors was excellent. The contact persons were either members of the management or held the corresponding executive position as the responsible expert buyers. This was also confirmed by the organizers’ visitor survey. It showed that almost two thirds of the visitors surveyed hold management positions at their companies or work in the areas of research and development. More than two-thirds of the respondents are also involved in purchasing and procurement decisions.
“This is our second time to attend ICIF China 2017. Our company grows together with the ICIF China, from small to big, from weak to strong”, Mr. CHEN Li, General Manager of Hubei Yihua Group talked during the media interview onsite.
Mr. WU Jianming, the President of Jiangsu ENMAX Environment Technology Company Limited expressed:”This morning we have received more than 20 trade visitors and have very good communication with them. Our company’s technologies attracted the mentioned visitors and we are able to provide our customers the best solutions.”
The 2017 ICIF/SmartChem Conference will review the current state of knowledge in the chemical field, highlight applications for chemical engineering and processing technologies, and discuss future directions for advanced materials. Thought leaders in the chemical field, esperts engaged in team-based research, leading enterprises which promote innovative products and technologies, policymakers, and government representatives will be in attendance.
